Out of Hours

The 111 Service will take over from 6.30pm to 8.00am Monday through to Friday morning and 6.30pm on Friday to 8.00am Monday.  Although the Surgery is closed medical help is always available by calling the surgery number and listening to the information.  When the surgery is closed the Out of Hours may be contacted on  - 111.

For immediate, life-threatening emergencies, call 999.

Telephone Advice

On receiving the request from a patient to speak to a GP or a nurse the message is taken by the receptionist for the named clinician and the message is then conveyed for appropriate action by the clinician.  The clinician will then telephone the patient.    Receptionists cannot put calls directly through to clinicians during clinics unless the situation requires emergency attention.  Telephone consultations are also available with doctors and nurses.

Cancelling your Appointment

If you are unable to attend an appointment with one of the doctors or nurses, please telephone the surgery to cancel your appointment.  By giving us as much notice as you can you are helping us to make sure that someone else is given your slot.  You are now able to cancel your appointment by texting our appointment cancellation hotline on 07936843797.  Please text your name, date of birth and the date of the appointment which you wish to cancel.

This telephone number is for the cancellation of appointments only

Weekend, Bank Holiday and Evening GP Service

The service is available at the following GP Surgeries:

The Surgery, 1a Hawkesbury Road, Canvey Island SS8 0EX, 01268 683288 or Audley Mills Surgery, 57 Eastwood Road, Rayleigh SS6 7JF 01268 740501.

Electronic Prescription Service

Oaklands Surgery is now offering the Electronic Prescription Service, which allows patients to choose or 'nominate' a pharmacy to get your medicines or appliances from.  Your GP then sends your prescription electronically to the place you nominated.  This means:

  • If you collect your repeat prescriptions from your GP you will not have to visit your GP practice to pick up your paper prescription, saving time

  • You will have more choice about where to get your medicines from because they can be collected from a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop

  • You may not have to wait as long as your repeat prescriptions could be prepared before you arrive

Doctor and Patient

The practice is actively registering new patients

During the Coronavirus Pandemic there is no need to visit the practice to register just send an email to the practice email account on oaklands.surgery@nhs.net or telephone 01268 209339 with your request to register

Coronavirus

The main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are a high temperature, a new, continuous cough and a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.
a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
To protect others, do not go to places like a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital if you have any of these symptoms. Stay at home or go online to the 111 service who will offer advice.  For further information on how Coronavirus spreads see 'Latest News'

To reduce your chances of catching COVID-19 and reduce pressure on your local GP practice during this busy time, appointments will be carried out over the phone or through using the e-consult service unless there is a clinical need for you to come into the practice. This will help minimise risk while continuing to ensure people get the care and advice they need.

Online consultations available.  To start an e-consultation please click the link below.  We hope you find the service useful, and in many instances it should remove the need for you to come into the surgery for treatment
